Job Summary:

We are seeking a Sr. Manager, HSE Assurance and Technical Programs to join our team. The candidate will support the team by being the primary owner of the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Audit / Assurance Programs as well as act as the primary point of contact for HSE related technical needs within the business. This is a hands-on role requiring a self-driven individual capable of extensive coordination with Development, Technical Services, Project Execution, Operations, and various internal and external stakeholders within both the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Plastics businesses. This individual will work closely with the HSE department and other teams throughout Brightmark.

Responsibilities:

  • Assurance:
    • Creation and implementation of Brightmark’s internal HSE Assurance / Audit processes.
    • Identify HSE areas of opportunity at Brightmark sites while working with those sites on robust corrective actions plans.
    • Review regulatory applicability for sites.
    • Identify areas of best practice and support lessons learned across the company.
    • Establish continual improvement and corrective action review process.
    • Establish KPIs for assurance audits.
    • Create and audit HSE Policy and Procedure for compliance, implementation, and effectiveness.
  • Technical Programs:
    • Manage interactions with 3rd party consultants / vendors as needed.
    • Supports HSE, Operations, Technical Services, and Construction technical HSE requests.
    • Assistance with identifying resources and coordinating work for technical programs needs such as, but not limited to industrial hygiene and occupational health.
    • Champion the implementation and retain overall ownership for the HSE Electronic Management System(s).
    • Assist with coordination of the Brightmark HSE Learning and Development plan.
    • Support Due Diligence efforts for Merger and Acquisition activities and greenfield projects.
    • Act as support on key environmental projects

Success Criteria (what success will look like in this role):

  • Establish a robust HSE assurance audit program.
  • Implement and manage the HSE Electronic management system.
  • Establish a standardized Learning and Development program across the business.
  • Create / Manage a preferred vendor / consultant database for any HSE technical needs.

Experience & Professional Qualifications:

  • Previous multi-site HSE experience dealing with high hazards sites and applied in real operations or critical work environments.
  • 5+ years assurance / auditing experience required – oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, or other PSM covered facilities preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience administering electronic HSE Management systems.
  • Experience in creating and management of various HSE programs (Technical Writing).
  • Experience in Auditing job task and work locations to recommend / implement improvements.
  • Experience in environmental permitting preferred.
  • Experience with due diligence proceedings for Merger and Acquisition activities preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations; Prior regulatory agency interaction also highly preferred.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong oral and written communications, including the ability to effectively present to and train both large and small groups.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to problem solve and lead by example.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to be able to communicate with trades, construction, operations, project management and Brightmark leadership.
  • Ability to work independently but also take direction as needed or in a team setting.
  • Ability to travel to construction and operational sites for auditing and in-person meetings as needed (~25% travel).

Salary:

  • $150,000-$160,000 per year
