Opportunity

As we continue to expand our business, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a key member on a talented team that delivers SAAS products at Rheaply. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder across functional areas of the company and your feedback and perspective will help contribute to a product our customers truly love.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop new features, fix bugs, and contribute to an ever evolving suite of engineering tools, methodologies, and systems.
  • Collaborate across the business (product, design, sustainability experts, business stakeholders) to scope, manage, and deliver products.
  • Bring depth to your areas of technical expertise, and remain eager to learn in domains where you're looking to grow.
  • Actively participate in code reviews and tech-design evaluations, while continually aiming to enhance our software development and collaboration processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • NodeJS, Javascript and/or Typescript expertise. Generally 4+ years experience. Comparable expertise in other languages is also sufficient, given a demonstrated ability and desire to quickly learn new frameworks.
  • Ability to architect new functionality from the ground up, as well as the ability to build atop and improve existing patterns.
  • Proven experience enhancing system maintainability, scalability, and security.
  • Strong understanding of how data can be stored, retrieved, and transmitted. Examples relevant to Rheaply include working with relational databases, application state, caching, search engines, events, and building/consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Strong mentoring skills for aiding in the professional growth of fellow developers.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both with fellow Engineers and other business partners.
  • Ability to take ownership and efficiently deliver features in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate status updates and complex technical problems in a remote world.
  • A drive to expand your knowledge across our tech stack. At Rheaply, we cherish the broadening of our competencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with AWS or comparable cloud providers. Primary AWS services we use include ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, API Gateway, CloudFront, VPC, and IAM.
  • Experience with Lucene based search engines (OpenSearch, ElasticSearch).
  • Experience building public APIs and integrations with external partner applications.
  • Experience utilizing generative foundational models and services (our product leverages OpenAI).
  • Ability to contribute to Platform and DevOps realms. We utilize technologies such as Okta (authentication), Datadog (monitoring), Stripe (payments), Terraform (infrastructure as code), GitHub Actions (CI/CD), and Metabase (data analytics).
