About the Role
Hauler Hero is hiring a Director of Finance to own the company’s financial operations and strategic finance function end to end. This role is responsible for building a scalable, accurate, and trusted finance foundation while partnering closely with the CEO on planning, pricing, capital efficiency, and board communication.
This is a hands-on leadership role today, with a clear path to VP of Finance as the company scales. The right candidate is comfortable operating in the weeds, building systems, and providing clear financial insight that leadership relies on daily.
What You’ll Own
Financial Operations
Own the full order-to-cash cycle: invoicing, collections, revenue recognition, and payment reconciliation
Lead monthly close with accuracy and timeliness
Manage AP, vendor payments, and expense controls
Maintain GAAP compliance and partner with external accountants and auditors
Build scalable internal controls as transaction volume grows
Customer Agreements & Revenue Integrity
Ensure customer agreements (Order Forms, MSAs, renewals, custom pricing) are executed, stored, and version-controlled
Maintain clean contract metadata that feeds billing, forecasting, and renewals
Proactively audit agreements and systems to prevent revenue leakage
Commissions & Sales Finance
Own commission calculations and payouts for GTM roles
Validate bookings, payment timing, clawbacks, and quota credit rules
Deliver clear, auditable commission statements
Partner with Sales leadership on comp plan design, ramps, accelerators, and SPIFFs
Board & Investor Support
Prepare monthly KPI reporting and quarterly board materials
Partner with the CEO on runway management, fundraising readiness, and financial storytelling
Establish a predictable, trusted financial operating cadence for leadership and the board
Strategic Finance & FP&A
Own and maintain the financial model across ARR, revenue, margins, headcount, and payments economics
Build scenario analyses for hiring, GTM strategy, pricing, and fundraising
Track and analyze core SaaS and payments metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, GMV, take rates)
Support pricing, packaging, and product expansion decisions with clear financial insight
Systems & Tooling
Own the finance tech stack (accounting, billing, reconciliation, expenses, commissions, forecasting)
Integrate financial systems with HubSpot and product data
Manage relationships with banks, payments providers, and financial vendors
Product Collaboration
Partner with Product and Engineering on financial logic embedded in the platform, including invoicing workflows, payment flows, reconciliation, and reporting
Cash & Capital
Maintain clear visibility into cash position, runway, and near-term liquidity
Use low-risk instruments where appropriate
Provide simple, accurate reporting on cash and capital needs
What Success Looks Like
Within 12 months:
Billing, collections, and commissions are accurate and boring
Leadership trusts the financial model for decision-making
Board materials are clean, consistent, and delivered without fire drills
Revenue leakage is eliminated
Finance is viewed as a strategic partner, not a back-office function
The CEO spends less time in the weeds and more time using financial insight strategically
Qualifications
7–12+ years of experience across finance operations and FP&A
Must have experience in a venture-backed SaaS company under $50M ARR.
SaaS experience required; payments or fintech experience strongly preferred
Proven experience owning billing, forecasting, and board-level reporting
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
Experience implementing finance systems and automation
Comfortable operating both tactically and strategically
Clear, concise communicator with executive presence
Growth Path
