Battle Motors in New Philadelphia, Ohio, is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Technician.
The Environmental Health & Safety Technician will assist in ensuring a safe workplace and to ensure compliance with safety and health procedures and regulations. Also assist in developing and implementing appropriate safety and health management processes and systems at the site level and support functional objectives within the framework of Battle Motors’ corporate philosophy.
Key Accountabilities
- Recognize hazards to identify conditions or actions that may cause injury, illness or property damage.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental permit requirements, and company standards
- Assist with development of site environmental and safety policies and procedures
- Support day-to-day activities, implementation, and administration of environmental health and safety programs
- Promote and enforce safe work practices at the site and while developing a culture of safety with employee engagement as a core pillar
- Conduct regular environmental and safety audits and inspections
- Assist with environmental and safety communication and reporting
- Interact with regulatory agencies as required to maintain compliance with all applicable standards
- Ensure and support the timely completion of safety and environmental incident investigations, driving to root cause and corrective action
- Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials, and supplies
- Support implementation of employee health initiatives and programs
- Assist with management of contractor safety program and training
- Active participating member of the site Safety Committee
- Participate, train, and execute drills/exercises on responsible management of emergency situations
This position will adhere to the Battle Motors Environmental Health and Safety Program by following all safety rules, procedures, practices, training, and safe use of equipment; this includes use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. This individual will work in a way that stresses the importance of preventing injury, accidents, or illnesses to themselves or co-workers by correcting or reporting unsafe situations, incidents, or occurrences to their Supervisor immediately.
